Why was he in the outskirts of this town?

Because he was fighting in the woods that surrounded it. Of course he didn't care about helping anyone, but the pack of Lycanroc that he had stumbled upon had proven to be good foes.

His two faithful Hounds were both out, and matching their enemies with claws of metal, and fangs of fire.

Each clash unleashed a small explosion, and slowly their battle drew closer to a small farm where a man was standing guard.

Unknowingly to Gaius he looked like he was about to lay siege to this little farm, and soon one of the two Lycanroc was sent careening through the fence crashing next to some of the Wooloo, which soon scattered.

The second one moved to defend it's companion, not aware, or caring about his surroundings he approached the two beasts.

The violent crash of the fence alerted the Alolan, as did the scattering sheep. He hissed, he thought that his Lycanroc would make an excellent herder however it seemed they ran off to do their own thing. Nearing the fence, a raised eyebrow formed on the man's face.. well, that wasn't his Lycanroc. Still, he went through all that effort to herd the Pokemon and now they scattered.

It seemed whoever was attacking the Farm was just going out of their way to make it more difficult for him, a grumble emitted from his lips as he stepped over the fence. Soon after, his personal wolf had sprinted out from the foliage to their trainer's side.

Still, the trainer didn't know what was occurring as of yet but assumed that the farm was simply being attacked. Clicking his fingers, the rock type hardened their posture and claws with their ability. Violently, the rock type began to hasten and create after images of themselves. Double Team!

Hunu waited in anticipation.

The second Lycanroc sprinted past them both, and soon was next to it's trainer. The wild Lycanroc having been thoroughly thrashed, soon vanished, but Gaius, and his Hound soon emerged from the foliage to see the other wolf using a Double Team.

Gaius just smiled, he didn't know that this man was protecting the farm, they had just been training in the forest when those pokemon stumbled upon them, and he realized they would be good sparring partners for his own Lucario.

"That is the correct response." He stated to Hunu, and then his Lucario blitzed the Lycanroc with Extreme Speed.

The Hound would see if this wolf was faster than him or not. It didn't matter as the fight was just beginning.

The rock type waited, it seemed a lot of Pokemon and Trainer's seemed to value speed above all else. Tactics, Speed, all of it funneled into the same thing. However, there was always a fundamental flaw with these things. They would always come in close. Awaiting, the Rock Type endured the explosive speed from the Lucario. The wolf's head, slowly turned with the blow, before rag dolling around in the air.

Spinning in place, the Rock Type used the momentum of the Extreme Speed to spin with immense torque. Violently, the Wolf performed a violent axe kick with the use of Counter. Attempting to hit the Lucario with amplified power, and using their own force against them to violently send them back.

The doppelgangers faded upon the Lucario landing their strike! "Speed ain't everything, prick."

The pair didn't flinch in the slightest when it came back with a Counter in fact that might have been the worst move for them to choose.

The Hound was smashed into by a force that redoubled his own, but this man had made a singular miscalculation.

Copycat was used to give his Hound Counter, and then the force that had already been doubled once, was doubled again, and sent right back into the mans wolf, in the form of a powerful open palm strike.

Gaius simply smiled widely at the man who seemed to take offense to his particular tactics. He didn't give off the same aura as those men that he had squared off against in that place among titans.

"Are you weak pretending to be strong?" He asked the man the questions with genuine curiosity. He didn't mean it as an insult, but more of trying to figure out exactly what his deal was.

Mice shouldn't bare their fangs at lions.

Emzar raised an eyebrow at his opponent's methods, it seemed that they decided to use the move back at his own Lycanroc. It was smart, however it seemed like this would act as a means of endurance and who exactly could outlast the other. To be fair, he couldn't not out pass Judgement on the other trainer as they began to try and throw insults at Hunu. He furrowed his eyebrows towards the opposition.

"Just looking to gauge the battlefield, you got a mouth on ya." He replied, as the Rock Type reeled from the opposing counter and swiftly performed another. Using the momentum of the blow to spin, and perform another violent strike at the opposition without warning. Counter again! Hunu wanted to see if Gaius would lock themselves in such a thing.

"You just go out of your way to attack random Pokemon?" Hunu enquired.

"Wild pokemon provide the best training. They still have their instincts intact." Something that most normal trainers, and pokemon had lost over the years.

The primal savagery of the wilderness was the true nature of the world. Untamed, and beautiful where there was only one truth. Survival of the fittest.

Gaius wished to become the Apex, to stand ahead of everyone else as the most ferocious creature. To do that you had to fight such creatures.

"I wouldn't expect any of you understand." He stated simply as his opponent once again used counter, and that gave his Lucario ample time to Copycat it, and give him the chance to use another Counter.

If this was to be an endurance contest, then his Lucario would succeed of that he was sure.
